Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Able to provide informed consent and complete all study assessments accurately
- Meet DSM-5 criteria for cannabis use disorder and use cannabis at least five times weekly over the past month
- Age between 18 and 25 years
- Body mass index (BMI) between 18 and 30
- Liver enzymes (AST, ALT) and total bilirubin within normal laboratory ranges
- Agree to abstain from alcohol for 12 hours before study visits and cannabis for three days as part of the study
- Abstain from all substances except cannabis, alcohol, and nicotine during the study
- Sexually active females of childbearing potential must use effective birth control
- Consent to random assignment to cannabidiol (CBD) or placebo treatment
You will not qualify if you...
- Females who are pregnant, nursing, or planning pregnancy during the study
- Current severe substance use disorder other than cannabis
- Taking medications or supplements that significantly interact with cannabidiol
- Unstable psychiatric or medical disorder that could affect safety or study participation
- Known allergy to cannabidiol, sesame, or sesame products
- Unable to comply with study procedures
