Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Able to provide informed consent and complete all study assessments accurately
  • Meet DSM-5 criteria for cannabis use disorder and use cannabis at least five times weekly over the past month
  • Age between 18 and 25 years
  • Body mass index (BMI) between 18 and 30
  • Liver enzymes (AST, ALT) and total bilirubin within normal laboratory ranges
  • Agree to abstain from alcohol for 12 hours before study visits and cannabis for three days as part of the study
  • Abstain from all substances except cannabis, alcohol, and nicotine during the study
  • Sexually active females of childbearing potential must use effective birth control
  • Consent to random assignment to cannabidiol (CBD) or placebo treatment
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Females who are pregnant, nursing, or planning pregnancy during the study
  • Current severe substance use disorder other than cannabis
  • Taking medications or supplements that significantly interact with cannabidiol
  • Unstable psychiatric or medical disorder that could affect safety or study participation
  • Known allergy to cannabidiol, sesame, or sesame products
  • Unable to comply with study procedures
