Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Pathologically confirmed papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC)
- Age between 14 and 80 years old
- Preoperative fine needle aspiration confirming lymph node metastasis in the lateral neck
- Ultrasound and CT indicating metastatic or suspected metastatic lymph nodes limited to compartment IV with 1-2 lymph nodes less than 1 cm in short diameter
- Lymph nodes without central necrosis, liquefaction, peripheral enhancement, or disappearance of adjacent fat spaces
- Thyroid tumors without extra thyroidal extension
- Sufficient thyroid volume to allow tracer injection
You will not qualify if you...
- Previous neck surgery
- Bilateral neck lymph node dissection
- Presence of distant metastases
- High-risk pathological subtypes or other high-risk factors for recurrence
- Any prior treatment for thyroid cancer other than endocrine therapy
- Inability to cooperate with follow-up
