Study of Self-Belief and Medication Taking in Adults with Coronary Artery Disease

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are investigating how self-efficacy, or a persons confidence in managing their health, relates to medication adherence in individuals with coronary artery disease CAD. This descriptive and correlational study focuses on patients diagnosed with CAD for at least one year, aiming to understand how belief in managing chronic disease influences their treatment adherence. The study will be conducted between March and October 2025 at Adyaman University Training and Research Hospital with a planned sample size of 135 participants. The study is observational and does not involve any interventions or experimental treatments. Data will be gathered through self-administered questionnaires including the Descriptive Information Form, the 6-Item Self-Efficacy for Managing Chronic Disease Scale, and the Medication Adherence Report Scale MARS. Participants are those diagnosed with CAD such as angina pectoris or myocardial infarction, who can communicate in Turkish and have no mental disorders. Participants will complete questionnaires to report their self-efficacy and medication adherence during the study period. Researchers will assess self-efficacy scores and medication adherence scores collected between March and October 2025. The findings aim to help healthcare professionals, especially nurses, develop better education and counseling strategies to support CAD patients in managing their condition effectively.
