What this Trial Is About
The goal of this randomised controlled trial is to examine the following research questions: 1) whether digitally delivered parent-based behavioural sleep intervention with or without personalised support is effective in improving sleep, clinical and daytime symptoms, and 2) whether such interventions can also improve parental sleep, mental health, and parenting stress in children with ASD and insomnia.

Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Child aged 6 to 12 years attending a local mainstream primary school
- Child diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) by a psychiatrist or clinical psychologist using DSM-V and ADI-R criteria
- Child has insomnia symptoms with sleep onset latency over 25 minutes, occurring three or more times per week for at least three months, causing daily impairment
- Parent owns and can use a smartphone and understands Chinese
- Parent or guardian provides written informed consent
- Ability to comply with the study protocol
You will not qualify if you...
- Child has diagnosed intellectual disability
- Child has diagnosed neurological or medical conditions affecting sleep, such as blindness, traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, or poorly controlled eczema
- Child has diagnosed sleep disorders other than insomnia or suspected sleep apnea (score of 4 or above on sleep-disordered breathing subscale of CSHQ)
- Children currently on melatonin or SSRI medications may be included only if they meet all eligibility criteria otherwise
