Researchers are evaluating two different smoking cessation programs to help adults who want to quit or reduce smoking. This randomized controlled trial compares a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) text-based program alone with a combination of CBT text messages and mindfulness audio support. The study aims to see which approach is more effective in reducing smoking frequency, managing cravings, improving emotional regulation, and enhancing quality of life in adults aged 18 to 65 who smoke at least five cigarettes daily. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. Group A will receive CBT text messages focused on strategies like identifying triggers, coping mechanisms, and goal setting over an 8-week period. Group B will receive the same CBT text messages plus weekly mindfulness audio recordings that guide exercises such as body scans, breath awareness, and meditation. This group will also have access to emotional support and peer-related information through chatbots. The program is delivered online, and participants will access materials via digital platforms and compatible devices. During the study, participants will be assessed at multiple time points up to 26 weeks. Researchers will verify abstinence biologically at 6 months and measure smoking frequency, craving intensity, and emotional regulation at various intervals. Data will be collected through self-reports and digital tools, with progress monitored regularly. This approach helps researchers understand how these interventions impact tobacco dependence over time and supports participants in their journey to quit smoking.
