Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Male or female, any race
- Age 18 years or older
- Able to provide written informed consent
- Diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis confirmed by referring physician
- Active disease with at least 1 enhancing lesion in the last 6 months
- Treatment naive except for relapse-related therapies like corticosteroids or plasmapheresis
- Planning to start a high efficacy disease modifying therapy such as ocrelizumab or natalizumab
- Clinical laboratory tests including CBC and BMP within 3 months before enrollment without significant abnormalities
You will not qualify if you...
- Presence of low binding polymorphism for TSPO
- Allergy or hypersensitivity to [11C]-CS1P1, [11C]-DPA-713, [18F]-FDG, or their ingredients
- Contraindications to PET, CT, or MRI scans making participation unsafe
- Estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) less than 60 (related to gadolinium use)
- Severe claustrophobia
- Currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- Receiving radiation therapy
- Insulin dependent diabetes
- Contraindications to lumbar puncture including use of certain blood thinners or coagulopathy
- Any condition increasing risk or interfering with study procedures such as renal or liver failure, advanced cancer
- Participation in other radiation-based research within 12 months exceeding 5 rem total dose
