Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Written informed consent
- Idiopathic Parkinson's disease according to the Movement Disorders Society Criteria
- Age between 30 and 75 years
- Treatment with or without bilateral deep brain stimulation in the subthalamic nucleus
- Fluent in German or French
- For healthy controls: adults aged 50 to 70 years
- For healthy controls: written informed consent
- For healthy controls: fluent in German or French
You will not qualify if you...
- Dysarthria caused by conditions other than Parkinson's disease (e.g., stroke, myasthenia)
- Clinical diagnosis of aphasia
- Brain diseases other than Parkinson's disease (e.g., atypical Parkinsonism, Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, multiple sclerosis, stroke, traumatic brain injury, epilepsy)
- Cognitive impairment with Montreal Cognitive Assessment score less than 24
- Depression with acute suicidal ideation
- For healthy controls: diagnosis of Parkinson's disease
- For healthy controls: cognitive impairment with Montreal Cognitive Assessment score less than 24
- For healthy controls: brain diseases as listed above
- For healthy controls: clinical diagnosis of aphasia, dysarthria, or stuttering
- For healthy controls: psychiatric illnesses diagnosed according to DSM-V criteria
