Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- SCI ASIA classification A, B, C, or D
- Between 20 and 70 years of age
- More than 1 year after spinal cord injury
- Complete or incomplete spinal cord injury
- Expected to undergo spinal cord stimulation surgery
- Will continue rehabilitation after surgery
- Able to follow study procedures and attend follow-up visits
- Stable medical condition without heart or lung disease or autonomic dysfunction that prevents lower limb rehabilitation or testing
You will not qualify if you...
- Significant cognitive impairment (MMSE score less than 24)
- Mental illness within the past year or treatment for mental illness
- Major depressive disorder
- Active cancer diagnosis
- Painful musculoskeletal problems, unhealed fractures, contractures, pressure sores, or urinary tract infections that interfere with standing or step training
- Heart or musculoskeletal disease or injury preventing full participation in physical therapy
- Unable to read or understand the consent form
- Concerns about the trial leading to refusal to sign consent
