Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Adults aged 18 years or older
- Undergoing laparoscopic bariatric surgeries such as sleeve gastrectomy or mini gastric bypass
- Body mass index (BMI) between 35 and 60
- Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status II, either male or female
You will not qualify if you...
- Severe pre-existing lung disease
- Low oxygen levels (SpO2 less than 92%) on room air before surgery
- History of barotrauma
- Previous pneumothorax
- Known lung bullae or emphysematous blebs
