What this Trial Is About

Researchers are working to better understand lower-grade gliomas, a type of brain tumor, by studying their molecular and metabolic characteristics. The aim is to identify different subgroups of these tumors that may behave differently and respond to treatments in unique ways. This observational study focuses on exploring these metabolic profiles to improve diagnosis and treatment strategies. Participants enrolled in the prospective metabolic cohort will receive standard treatments for their condition. Some of their tumor materials will undergo advanced molecular and metabolic analysis to determine their metabolic profiles. These profiles will then be linked to clinical outcomes such as progression-free survival, overall survival, and responses to therapy, as well as tumor types like astrocytoma or oligodendroglioma. Additionally, critical enzymes identified in the first cohort will be examined at the protein level in a retrospective group of patients who previously had surgery and have available clinical and pathological data. Researchers will monitor participants over a period of up to 180 months to assess progression-free and overall survival. The study involves collecting and analyzing clinical histories, tumor samples, and treatment responses to improve understanding of these tumors.
