Who Can Participate

Age: 18Years +
All Genders

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Diagnosis of cancer
  • Age 18 or older
  • Admitted to a medical floor
  • Dyspnea intensity at rest of at least 4 on a 0-10-point scale
  • Speak English or Spanish
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Hemodynamic instability requiring active Merit Team or ICU involvement
  • Delirium as assessed by clinical team in Electronic Health Record
  • Severe hypoxemia (SpO2 < 90%) despite supplemental oxygen up to 6 L/min
  • Continuous positive airway pressure use for obstructive sleep apnea >10 hours daily
  • Respiratory failure needing mechanical ventilation or planned thoracentesis within 72 hours
  • Known pregnancy
