Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age 18 years or older with body weight of at least 50 kg
- Recently discharged from the hospital to home within the past 3 days after evaluation and/or treatment for acute severe hypertension (systolic blood pressure >180 mmHg and/or diastolic >110 mmHg)
- Average systolic blood pressure above 145 mmHg at screening and randomization visits
- Presence of established cardiovascular or kidney-related comorbidities
You will not qualify if you...
- History of secondary hypertension
- Any cancer requiring treatment within the past 5 years
- Clinically significant abnormal thyroid function
- Hospitalized for stroke, type 1 heart attack, or coronary revascularization within 3 months prior to first study visit
- History or signs of cirrhosis or other major liver disease
- Alanine aminotransferase or aspartate aminotransferase levels greater than twice the upper limit of normal
- Most recent hospital stay was for conditions not related to heart or kidney problems
