Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Primary psychiatric diagnosis of recurrent major depressive disorder without psychotic features confirmed by DSM-5 and MINI
- At least one previous major depressive disorder episode prior to current episode
- First diagnosis of depression before age 55
- Current depressive episode lasting between 2 and 24 months
- Have taken zero, one, or two treatments for depression in the current episode
- Body mass index (BMI) between 18 and 35 kg/m² at screening
You will not qualify if you...
- Treatment with VNS, ECT, TMS, DBS, or ketamine/esketamine during current or past major depressive episodes
- Current or past diagnosis of bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, borderline or antisocial personality disorder, or current obsessive-compulsive disorder
- Post-traumatic stress disorder within 3 years before screening
- Dementia, intellectual disability, or neurocognitive disorder
- Alcohol or substance use disorders within 6 months before screening, except nicotine, caffeine, or mild cannabis use disorder
- Known allergy, hypersensitivity, or intolerance to JNJ-89495120 or its components
