Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Ill AN subjects must meet current DSM V diagnosis of anorexia nervosa with a BMI between 11 and 17.5 kg/m2, or BMI above 17.5 with active eating disorder symptoms
- Recovered AN subjects must have: 1) current or past DSM V diagnosis of anorexia nervosa; 2) BMI between 18.5 and 30 kg/m2; 3) maintained BMI above 18.5 for at least one year
- Healthy controls must be adolescent or adult females without anorexia nervosa or other Axis I psychiatric illnesses, maintaining a BMI between 18.5 and 30 kg/m2 since age 18
You will not qualify if you...
- Diagnosis of organic brain syndrome, schizophrenia, or schizoaffective disorder
- Untreated thyroid disease
- Renal disease
- Hepatic disease
- Regular use of fish-oil containing supplements within the last three months
- Pregnancy or lactation
