Researchers will collect detailed information on illness and hospital stay up to 30 days through medical record review. The main outcome measured is the effectiveness of 20vPnC against pneumonia caused by the seven additional bacterial types over approximately 55 months. Other clinical features and pneumonia types will also be reviewed during this period.

Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Male or female participants aged 65 years or older
- Hospitalized with physician suspicion of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) with at least 2 of the following: fever, hypothermia, chills, chest pain, new or worsening cough, sputum production, shortness of breath, rapid breathing, malaise, or abnormal lung sounds
- Radiographic evidence consistent with pneumonia (e.g., pleural effusion, pulmonary density, alveolar infiltrates)
- Able to provide signed informed consent
You will not qualify if you...
- Developed pneumonia symptoms after being hospitalized for 48 hours or more
- Received any pneumococcal vaccine within 30 days before enrollment
- Unable to provide a urine specimen (e.g., anuric)
- Previously enrolled in this study within the past 30 days
