Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age 18-60 years old
- Diagnosed with primary hyperaldosteronism according to the 2016 International Endocrine Society clinical guidelines
- Refusal of medication due to side effects, refusal of adrenal surgery due to surgical risk, or persistent hyperaldosteronism and adrenal cortex insufficiency after surgery
- Voluntary acceptance of adrenal artery embolization after being fully informed of all current treatment options for primary aldosteronism
You will not qualify if you...
- History of severe allergic reaction to contrast media
- Serious liver disease complications such as thrombocytopenia or esophageal variceal bleeding
- Renal insufficiency with serum creatinine over 176 mmol/L or low estimated glomerular filtration rate
- Other secondary hypertension causes including pheochromocytoma, hypercortisolism, renal vascular hypertension, renin-secreting tumor, renal parenchymal hypertension, drug-induced hypertension, pregnancy-related hypertension
- Hereditary diseases such as false aldosteronism, Bartter syndrome, familial hypokalemia and hypomagnesemia
- Stroke, heart attack, or stent placement within the past 3 months
- Severe other medical conditions like grade IV heart failure, acute infections, autoimmune diseases, or cancer
- Participation in other clinical trials within the last 3 months
- Current pregnancy, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy
