Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Age over 18 years and able to give informed consent
  • Suspicion or diagnosis of thyroid cancer
  • Planned total thyroidectomy or completion thyroidectomy
  • Normal calcium levels before surgery
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Planned simultaneous parathyroid surgery
  • Treatment with active vitamin D analogues
  • Estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) less than 30
