Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age greater than 50 years old
- At least one syncope (fainting) episode in the prior 12 months
- Diagnosis unclear after history, physical exam, and electrocardiogram
- No apparent risk of death due to the cause of syncope
You will not qualify if you...
- Unable to provide informed consent or attend routine follow-up
- Known left ventricular ejection fraction less than 50%
- Presence of pacemaker, ICD, or implantable loop recorder
- Class I indication for permanent pacing or ICD implantation
- Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
- History of myocardial infarction within 3 months prior to enrollment
- Major chronic co-morbid condition that prevents 12 months of follow-up
- Bifascicular block
- Epilepsy proven by electroencephalography
- Syncope of known cause
