This randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Tai Chi and conventional exercise on improving cognitive function in older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Participants will be randomized into three six-month programmes, namely Health Education group, Tai Chi group and Conventional Exercise group. Assessments will be conducted at baseline, after the 26-week interventions, and 26-week after the competition of the intervention.

Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Chinese older adults aged 50 years or older
- Ethnic Chinese
- Diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) based on Mayo Clinic criteria, including subjective cognitive decline
- Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) score at or below the 7th percentile for age and education
- No impairment in daily functioning as shown by scores on the Chinese Lawton Instrumental Activities of Daily Living scale
You will not qualify if you...
- History of major chronic diseases such as cancer, stroke, cerebro- or cardiovascular diseases, or kidney disease
- Uncontrolled diabetes
- Diagnosis of dementia or use of anti-dementia medication
- Diagnosis of psychiatric diseases or use of psychiatric medication
- Diseases or medications known to severely affect cognitive performance
- Physical conditions preventing exercise, such as limb loss
- Impaired mobility due to chronic neurological, musculoskeletal, or autoimmune diseases
- Unable to perform physical exercise
- Regular exercise habit exceeding three sessions of 60 minutes of Tai Chi or moderate-intensity exercise per week in the past 3 months
