Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Meet clinical guidelines for knee osteoarthritis (age 50 or older, activity-related knee pain, morning stiffness 30 minutes or less if present)
- Body mass index less than 40
- Knee pain on most days for 3 months or more
- Average knee pain severity of 4 or higher on an 11-point scale over the last 7 days, measured at least twice 2 weeks apart
- Able to attend remote sessions
- Can speak and understand English well enough to follow study procedures and give consent
- Available for the full study duration
You will not qualify if you...
- Contraindications to exercise
- Lower back or leg pain worse than knee pain
- Received physical therapy for knee osteoarthritis within the past 6 months or currently receiving it
- Participated in mindfulness programs like Tai Chi or meditation within the past 6 months or currently involved
- Receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy for cancer except for non-melanoma skin cancer
- History of other diseases affecting the knee joint such as rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthropathy, gout, lupus, infections, Paget's disease, or tumors
- Knee surgery in the past 6 months
- Joint replacement in hip or ankle
- Previous knee osteotomy or knee replacement in either knee
- Planned major treatment for knee osteoarthritis during the study period
- Planned major surgery in the next 6 months
- Corticosteroid or hyaluronic acid injections in the knee within the past 3 months
- Neurological conditions affecting motor function like stroke, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, multiple sclerosis, or diabetic neuropathy
- Pregnancy
- Participation in another clinical trial for joint or muscle pain
- Suspected or known drug or alcohol abuse
