Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Patients 18 years of age or older with biopsy-proven invasive breast cancer
- Breast cancer that is accessible to a tumor punch biopsy
- Patients expected to benefit clinically from palliative radiation therapy to the breast or chest wall
- If possible, systemic therapy will be paused during radiation therapy after discussion with the medical oncologist
You will not qualify if you...
- Previous radiation to the treatment area where reirradiation is considered unsafe by the attending physician
- Pregnancy
- Current use of blood-thinning medications that increase risk from tumor punch biopsies
- Receipt of immunotherapy or chemotherapy within 7 days before starting radiation therapy
