The goal of this clinical trial is to investigate the efficacy of theta burst stimulation in individuals with gambling disorder. The main goal is to compare the severity of gambling problems following 2 weeks of intervention between active group and sham group. Participants will be randomized into active and sham group. Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age between 18 and 65 years
- Meet at least 4 DSM-5 criteria for gambling disorder for at least 12 months as assessed by Structured Clinical Interview
You will not qualify if you...
- Unable to provide informed consent or understand study procedures
- Major psychiatric illness requiring chronic psychotropic medication or inpatient treatment, including schizophrenia spectrum disorder, bipolar spectrum disorder, and major depressive disorder with psychotic features
- Current DSM-5 diagnosis of substance use disorder except nicotine use or limited benzodiazepine use for sleep
- Known noise-induced hearing loss, ongoing treatment with ototoxic drugs, or cochlear implants
- Unstable medical illness such as cancer, uncontrolled diabetes, unstable heart disease, recent heart attack, or serious cerebrovascular or cardiovascular risk factors
- Taking medications known to lower seizure threshold (e.g., TCA, bupropion, clozapine)
- Having implants controlled by physiological signals like pacemaker, implantable cardioverter defibrillator, or cochlear implant
- Presence of metallic objects in the head, including stents or sutures
- High seizure risk due to brain injury, seizure history, head trauma, brain lesions, withdrawal syndromes, or stimulant intoxication
