Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Radiotherapy for cancer performed between January 1, 1999, and December 31, 2018
- Age under 18 years at the time of radiotherapy
- Follow-up of at least 4 years at the Pediatric Unit of IRCCS AOU Bologna
- Obtained informed consent
- No history of exposure to ionizing radiation for non-radiotherapy group
- No specific risk factors for differentiated thyroid cancer in non-radiotherapy group (autoimmune thyroiditis, familial forms, genetic syndromes)
- Thyroid ultrasound performed between January 1, 1999, and December 31, 2018, at the Nuclear Medicine Unit of IRCCS AOU Bologna
- Age under 18 years at the time of thyroid ultrasound
- Obtained informed consent for non-radiotherapy group
You will not qualify if you...
- Patients transferred to another center before completing 4 years of follow-up after radiotherapy without a diagnosis of thyroid cancer
- None for the non-radiotherapy group
