  • Critically ill patients admitted to intensive care units in Stockholm at Karolinska University Hospital (Solna and Huddinge) and Södersjukhuset
  • Patients over 18 years of age
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Patients younger than 18 years
  • Patients with do not attempt resuscitation (DNAR) orders
  • Patients dying within 12 hours of starting renal replacement therapy

Implementation

Participants receive Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) started either early without absolute indications or later based on clinical indications as part of routine care in intensive care units.

Visits occur as part of routine ICU care during CRRT

Long-term Monitoring

Duration - Up to 10 years following ICU discharge

Participants are observed for outcomes including mortality at multiple time points and morbidity such as new onset chronic kidney disease or end-stage renal disease after ICU discharge.

Follow-up assessments at 30, 60, 90, 180 days and at 1, 2, and 3 years, with extended monitoring up to 10 years for renal outcomes
