Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Patients with a biopsy-proven invasive breast carcinoma or a breast mass highly suspicious for invasive carcinoma
- Tumor or breast mass larger than 1 cm in diameter
- Age 18 years or older
- Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status 0-1
- Willingness and ability to undergo contrast-enhanced breast MRI
- No history of untreatable claustrophobia or incompatible metallic objects for MRI
- No history of sickle cell disease
- No contraindications to intravenous contrast or gadolinium allergy
- Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR) greater than 30 mL/min/1.73 m2
- Weight less than or equal to MRI table limit
- Ability to understand and sign informed consent
- For Cohort C: locally advanced breast cancer stage II-III with residual palpable mass >1 cm after neoadjuvant therapy and candidate for MRI before surgery
You will not qualify if you...
- Previous breast cancer or radiation therapy to the same breast
- Presence of breast prosthetic implants (silicone or saline)
- Use of investigational agents within 30 days prior to study
- Uncontrolled illnesses such as active infection, heart failure, unstable angina, arrhythmia, or psychiatric/social conditions limiting study compliance
- Pregnant or lactating women; must have a negative pregnancy test within 7 days of registration
