Rehabilitation is essential for the resumption of daily activities, and with the appropriate care, it is possible for stroke-survivors to regain most of their functions. Age: 21Years - 90Years

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Stroke confirmed by neurologists, neurosurgeons, and brain imaging (CT, CT angiogram, MRI, MR angiogram)
  • First-ever confirmed stroke
  • Asian ethnicity
  • Age between 21 and 90 years
  • Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MOCA) score of 21/30 or higher
  • Admission to rehabilitation ward within 8 weeks of stroke onset
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Recurrent stroke or transient ischaemic attack (TIA)
  • Upper limb impairment not caused by stroke, such as from subarachnoid haemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, or brain tumors
  • Bilateral upper limb impairment
  • Uncontrolled medical conditions including hypertension, hypotension, diabetes mellitus, unstable angina, cardiac failure, or sepsis
  • Active fractures or arthritis in upper limb joints or bones
  • Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) pain greater than 5 out of 10
  • MOCA score below 21/30
  • Severe behavioral disturbance, agitation, epilepsy, or untreated depression
  • Life expectancy less than 6 months
  • End organ failure requiring dialysis or replacement therapies
  • Minimally responsive or unresponsive (vegetative) states
  • Pregnancy or lactation
  • Admission to rehabilitation ward later than 8 weeks after stroke
  • For TMS assessments only: history of epilepsy or seizures, cranial surgeries, metal implants in body or head, implanted electronics, metallic valve, skull fracture, brain injury, or head/brain surgeries
