Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Evidence of changed cognition reported by a close informant via psychologist interview
- Cognitive test scores showing memory performance 1.0 standard deviation or more below age and education norms
- No dependence in daily living activities despite cognitive difficulties
- No dementia based on normal cognitive screening scores
- Clinical dementia rating scale score equal to 0.5
- Willingness to be randomized to cognitive training or educational control
- Able and willing to commit 12 weeks for intervention plus pre- and post-testing
- Able and willing to complete cognitive and emotional assessments on paper and tablet
- Availability of an informant to provide information about cognitive complaints and function
You will not qualify if you...
- Sensory or motor impairments preventing participation in tasks or assessments
- English as a second language
- Inability to undergo brain MRI due to claustrophobia or metal implants
- History of major stroke or significant brain diseases affecting cognition
- Unstable or uncontrolled medical conditions such as metastatic cancer or severe cardiac disease
- Current cancer diagnosis
- Current or past major psychiatric disorders including schizophrenia, active psychosis, bipolar disorder, major depression, or recent substance abuse
- Use of antipsychotic, sedative, or anticholinergic medications
- Use of photosensitive medications like steroids or retin-A within 15 days before the study
- Participation in cognitive training studies within the last 6 months or involvement in other interventions at enrollment
