Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age 65 years or older
- Expected operation time of 2 hours or more
- Planned postoperative hospital stay of 4 days or longer
- Signed informed consent form
You will not qualify if you...
- Neurosurgery or cardiac surgery
- Emergency surgery within 6 hours of admission
- End-stage disease with expected survival less than 3 months
- Severe preoperative cognitive dysfunction affecting perioperative cognitive assessment
- Severe sinus bradycardia, second-degree or higher atrioventricular block, or pacemaker placement
