WE-TRUST Study Comparing Direct to Angio Suite Workflow Versus Conventional CTMR Triage for Faster Stroke Treatment and Better Outcomes

Researchers are investigating a new approach called Direct to Angio Suite DTAS workflow to improve outcomes for patients experiencing acute ischemic stroke due to Large Vessel Occlusion. This randomized clinical trial, known as WE-TRUST, compares the DTAS workflow using Cone-Beam CT CBCT directly in the interventional suite against the conventional process of first performing CT or MRI scans in the emergency department before treatment. The study aims to show that DTAS leads to better patient recovery by reducing time to treatment. The trial involves two groups one group of stroke patients is diagnosed and treated immediately in the angio suite using the CBCT capabilities of the interventional X-ray system DTAS workflow, while the other group undergoes the standard CT or MRI triage followed by treatment in an interventional suite if an ischemic stroke is confirmed. The study is conducted across 16 or more sites worldwide, targeting enrollment of over 500 patients. Treatment teams including neurologists and neurointerventionalists are readily available to provide endovascular treatment during the study. Participants will be monitored for their recovery using the modified Rankin Scale mRS scores at about 90 days after treatment. Researchers will also measure key time intervals such as door-to-arterial puncture and door-to-reperfusion times. Throughout the study, patients neurological status will be assessed, and safety will be monitored. The entire participation includes follow-up assessments to evaluate the impact of the DTAS workflow on stroke outcomes compared to the conventional triage process.
