What this Trial Is About

Researchers are studying the effects of acute aerobic exercise on tumor cells in premenopausal breast cancer survivors with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and healthy premenopausal women. The research aims to understand how different types and intensities of exercise influence biological mechanisms that may affect cancer cell behavior and the quality of life of breast cancer survivors. This study is sponsored by Riga Stradins University and seeks to clarify the anticarcinogenic effects of exercise in cancer treatment and follow-up. Participants will engage in two types of exercise sessions: high intensity continuous exercise performed at 75% of their maximum oxygen uptake (VO2max) and moderate intensity continuous exercise at 45% VO2max. Both exercise types include a 15-minute warm-up followed by 30 minutes of continuous aerobic activity. The study includes breast cancer survivors who have completed their treatments and healthy women matched by age and fitness level for comparison. During the study, blood samples will be collected before, during, and after exercise to measure changes in serum myokine concentrations and to evaluate the inhibition of breast cancer cell proliferation using serum collected at baseline and immediately post-exercise. Body composition will also be assessed at baseline. The study involves multiple visits over at least two weeks with detailed monitoring of exercise effects on biological markers. Participants' physical fitness is verified by a cardiologist before inclusion, and safety is monitored throughout the study period.
