Researchers are evaluating the effectiveness and prognosis of ultrasound-guided and gene-based microwave ablation (MWA) compared to surgery in patients with low-risk papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). This study also investigates how genetic mutations influence treatment decisions for low-risk PTC patients, aiming to provide precise molecular evidence to guide treatment choices and predict outcomes. The study is prospective and collects clinical data from patients diagnosed at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital between January 2022 and November 2024 who had genetic testing before treatment. The treatments studied include ultrasound-guided microwave ablation, a minimally invasive procedure, and traditional surgical treatment. Patients confirmed to have low-risk PTC by ultrasound and next-generation sequencing (NGS) select either the ablation or surgery option. The study follows patients until November 2024, assessing treatment effectiveness and complications through thyroid ultrasound and contrast-enhanced ultrasound. Participants undergo regular monitoring including ultrasound imaging and genetic testing results review. Researchers track disease progression over an average of one year to evaluate outcomes. Safety and complications are also recorded through long-term follow-up, ensuring comprehensive assessment of both treatment approaches over the study period.
