What this Trial Is About
Superior cluneal nerve entrapment SCNE is a frequently overlooked cause of chronic low back and gluteal pain that can be mistaken for lumbar spine disorders. This study aims to evaluate the outcomes of an ultrasound-guided proximal superior cluneal nerve block in patients diagnosed with SCNE. The research focuses on assessing pain intensity, disability, and neuropathic pain features over time to better understand this treatment in routine clinical care. Participants diagnosed clinically with SCNE will undergo an ultrasound-guided proximal superior cluneal nerve block using a standardized technique performed by an experienced pain physician. This procedure targets the nerve with a specific injectate to manage pain. The study follows patients during their usual care and assesses outcomes at baseline, 1 month, and 3 months after the block. During the study, participants will receive baseline clinical assessments followed by evaluations at 1 and 3 months. Researchers will measure changes in pain intensity, disability using the Oswestry Disability Index, and neuropathic pain characteristics with the Douleur Neuropathique 4 questionnaire. Treatment response will also be documented to monitor effectiveness and patient progress during routine practice.
