Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Age between 20 and 60 years
  • Normal health confirmed by medical exam and interview
  • Normal fasting blood levels of glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL, creatinine, liver function, and electrolytes
  • Provided informed consent
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Use of immunosuppressive treatment within the last 12 months
  • History of alcohol abuse
  • Taking oral glucocorticoids, DPP-4 inhibitors, or GLP-1 receptor agonists that may affect glucose metabolism
  • Use of lithium
  • Receiving medical treatments that affect insulin secretion or heart function
  • Liver disease with ALT levels more than twice the normal value
  • Kidney impairment indicated by creatinine above 130 µM or presence of albumin in urine
