What this Trial Is About
Hypertension is linked to problems with the autonomic nervous system, reduced muscle strength, and lower functional capacity, which increase cardiovascular risks and reduce quality of life. This trial evaluates the differences between unilateral one limb at a time and bilateral both limbs together resistance training on heart rate variability HRV, muscle strength, and functional capacity in adults with hypertension aged 40 to 75 years. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups unilateral resistance training, bilateral resistance training, or a control group. Those in the training groups will complete a supervised 12-week program, exercising twice weekly at 60-70% of their one-repetition maximum. Exercises include leg press, knee extension, leg curl, seated row, and chest press. The control group will receive general physical activity education without supervised training. Participants will undergo assessments before and after the 12-week period. HRV will be measured with a Polar H10 heart rate sensor and analyzed using Elite HRV software. Muscle strength will be tested with one-repetition maximum methods, functional capacity with the Six-Minute Walk Test and Glittre Activities of Daily Living Test, and blood pressure with a sphygmomanometer. Researchers aim to identify which training method best improves autonomic function and physical performance in hypertension.
