Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Newly prescribed thiazide or thiazide-like diuretic
- 18 years of age or older
- Provided informed consent documented by signature
You will not qualify if you...
- Use of thiazide or thiazide-like diuretic in the month before the study
- Low blood sodium levels (plasma sodium <135 mmol/L) at the start
- Acute infectious or inflammatory disease with CRP ≥ 20 mg/L
- Symptomatic urinary tract infection
- Chronic use of NSAIDs or NSAID intake within 48 hours before urine sampling at visit 1 and 2 (acetylsalicylic acid allowed)
- Receiving end-of-life care, unable to consent, or unable to follow study procedures due to language barriers, psychological disorders, or dementia
