What this Trial Is About

This trial investigates whether the Reletex Reliefband device, used alongside current treatments, can reduce nausea and vomiting after bariatric sleeve surgery. Researchers want to see if this non-drug device can provide similar or better control of postoperative nausea and vomiting PONV with fewer side effects like drowsiness, potentially helping patients recover faster with earlier mobility and less discomfort. Participants will receive either the active Reletex Reliefband, which delivers a low-level electric current to stimulate nerves and reduce nausea, or a sham device that looks and feels similar but does not emit current. The band is applied at surgery completion, adjusted based on nausea severity, and worn for 24 hours postoperatively. Assessments and band adjustments occur regularly during the hospital stay, with a pedometer monitoring mobility. During the study, participants will be regularly evaluated for nausea, vomiting, pain, and mobility using scales and devices such as the PONV impact scale, pain rating scale, and pedometer. Data on anti-nausea medication use and patient recovery will be collected electronically. The main outcome measures focus on nausea and vomiting incidents within the first 24 hours after surgery, alongside medication use and mobility, with all procedures monitored closely throughout the hospital stay.
