Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Patients with confirmed hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia diagnosed by elevated insulin during hypoglycemia and/or response to glucagon stimulation
- Patients who have not responded to pharmacological therapy with diazoxide or octreotide
- Signed informed consent by the patient or their parents or legal guardians
- Patient's endocrinologist determines surgery is needed due to failure of standard medical therapy to prevent severe hypoglycemia and protect brain function
You will not qualify if you...
- Any major illness or condition increasing risk for participation as judged by the investigator
- Contraindication to MRI as assessed by a standardized MRI safety questionnaire (if MRI contraindicated, PET/CT may be used if no other contraindications)
- Cases where surgery is not an option due to parental or guardian refusal
