Evaluating Ashley Howes Analysis to Predict Tooth Extraction Decisions in Orthodontic Patients Aged 12 and Older

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating the accuracy of Ashley Howes analysis to predict whether orthodontic patients with permanent teeth will need tooth extraction as part of their treatment. This study focuses on patients with dental crowding and aims to understand if this cast analysis method can help in treatment planning decisions. The study uses Ashley Howes Analysis, which compares the width of the basal bone with the total tooth material using digital models. It is an observational study that involves analyzing maxillary dental models of patients with malocclusion to assess the correlation between tooth size and bone size. Participants will have their digital dental models assessed using the analysis method to measure the basal bone width versus the total tooth material. The primary outcome is the value obtained from Ashley Howes analysis at baseline. The study is sponsored by Cairo University and will last from February 2026 to February 2027.
