Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Between the ages of 8-18 years
- Within 14 weeks of type 1 diabetes diagnosis
- Ability and willingness to undergo non-invasive arterial stiffness assessment for 1 hour
- Willingness to wear the 24-hour automated blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) device
You will not qualify if you...
- Diagnosis of other cardiometabolic or endocrine diseases such as type 2 diabetes, familial cholesterol metabolism disorders, or lupus
- Diagnosis of genetic syndromes like Down Syndrome or Prader-Willi
- Diagnosis of an eating disorder
- Transgender children currently taking hormone blockers or exogenous sex steroids
- Currently treated with medications known to affect metabolism, including glucocorticoids and antipsychotics
