The goal of this observational study is to determine the feasibility of using integrated Transcranial Doppler Ultrasonography or Near Infrared Spectroscopy to detect changes in cerebral autoregulation and neurovascular coupling in healthy, stroke, dementia, depression and delirium populations. We also aim to: * Determine the optimal stimulus for neurovascular coupling * To derive sample size estimates for a future study * To develop a multilevel, multivariate model that can be applied to future datasets

Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Adults aged over 65 years who are healthy without medical conditions or medications that affect cognitive function or brain blood flow
- Participants with stable and well-controlled medical conditions such as hypertension
- Diagnosis of dementia, depression, or delirium according to DSM-V criteria
- Participants may be on or off anti-dementia or antidepressant medications
- Diagnosis of ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke within 72 hours of symptom onset
You will not qualify if you...
- Poorly controlled medical conditions that affect brain blood flow or cognitive function, such as heart failure, hypertension, or type two diabetes
- Being clinically unstable or too unwell to participate
- Lacking capacity or a personal consultee to provide consent for the study
