Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Age >18 years
- External ventricular drain (EVD) in place
- Admission to the neuro-intensive care unit or neurosurgical step-down unit at Rigshospitalet, Denmark
- Diagnosis of acute brain injury including traumatic brain injury, subarachnoid haemorrhage, intracranial haemorrhage, or intraventricular haemorrhage
You will not qualify if you...
- Patient or closest relatives do not understand written and spoken Danish or English
- Patients transferred to Rigshospitalet with an EVD
- Brain injury due to existing brain infection such as meningitis, intracranial empyema or abscess, or encephalitis
- Presence of ventriculoperitoneal or ventriculoatrial shunt at admission
- Primary or secondary brain cancer
- Patient has died or is in palliative care
