What this Trial Is About
Researchers are comparing social virtual reality with individual virtual reality in patients who have end stage kidney disease and are undergoing hemodialysis. The study aims to see if there are differences in symptoms such as loneliness, anxiety, depression, and quality of life between the two groups. This is a randomized controlled trial conducted at a single site involving 60 participants. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. One group will use social virtual reality glasses during dialysis sessions, allowing groups of three to watch a movie or program together and interact by talking. The other group will use individual virtual reality glasses alone to watch movies or programs during dialysis. Each session lasts 30 to 45 minutes and continues for 4 weeks. During the study, participants will be assessed at the start and after 4 weeks using the De Jong Gierveld Scale to measure loneliness. Researchers will also monitor symptoms related to anxiety, depression, and quality of life. Participants will use the virtual reality glasses during their regular dialysis sessions, and the total participation period lasts 4 weeks.
