Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Nonpregnant women
- 18 years of age or older
- Undergoing elective gynecological surgery
You will not qualify if you...
- Pregnant women
- Currently taking Vitamin C supplements
- History of kidney stones (nephrolithiasis)
- Congenital or neurogenic bladder abnormalities
- Allergy to ascorbic acid (Vitamin C)
- Using therapeutic anticoagulant medications within 6 weeks after surgery
- Undergoing gynecological surgery involving fistula repair or vaginal mesh removal
- Positive urinalysis before hospital admission
- History of recurrent urinary tract infections
- Diabetes
- G6PD deficiency
- Hemochromatosis
- Kidney or renal disorders
