Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Adult patient 18 years old or older
- Admitted to medical or coronary intensive care unit
- Intubated on mechanical ventilation with expected intubation over 24 hours
You will not qualify if you...
- Inability to obtain informed consent due to refusal or lack of surrogate
- Acute or chronic neurologic deficit preventing CAM-ICU assessments
- Inability to understand English
- Current enrollment in a study that prohibits co-enrollment
- Prisoner status
- Expected death or comfort measures within 24 hours of enrollment or lack of commitment to intervention
- Bilateral deafness
