Study Comparing Outcomes of Volar Locking Plates and External Fixators for Treating Distal Intra-articular Radius Fractures

Researchers are comparing two surgical methodsvolar locking plates and external fixatorsfor treating distal intra-articular radius fractures. The study aims to determine which approach offers better early functional recovery, fewer complications, and improved anatomical repair to help patients regain wrist function and return to daily life faster. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups one group will receive volar locking plates using the modified Henrys volar technique with 2.4 mm locking compression plates, while the other group will be treated with an external fixator attached to metacarpal bones and radius using pins. These procedures will be evaluated to compare outcomes like operative time, blood loss, and wrist function. During the study, researchers will measure surgical details such as operation duration and blood loss, as well as wrist function over three months after surgery. This will help assess recovery progress and functional outcomes. The total participation period includes the surgery and follow-up assessments to monitor healing and wrist mobility improvements.
