Age: 18Years +
All Genders

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible

You may qualify if you...

  • Age over 18 years
  • Intubated and mechanically ventilated for less than 36 hours at screening
Not Eligible

You will not qualify if you...

  • Pregnancy
  • Cardiopulmonary arrest
  • History of diaphragmatic paralysis or neuromuscular disease
  • COPD or asthma exacerbation with auto-PEEP requiring intubation
  • Use of neuromuscular blockade
  • Expected to be off the ventilator in less than 24 hours
  • Mechanical ventilation in the last 6 months
  • Presence of tracheostomy
  • High cervical spine injury
