Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Aged 18 years or older
- Diagnosed with primary rectal cancer confirmed by pathology
- Treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy or radiotherapy
- Achieved clinical complete response (ycT0N0) based on clinical exams and diffusion weighted MRI
- Able to give informed consent and understands the experimental nature and risks of the wait-and-see approach
- Understands the alternative treatment options and associated risks clearly
You will not qualify if you...
- Recurrent rectal cancer
- Contraindications to MRI, such as having a pacemaker
- Unable to understand or read Dutch
- Unable or unwilling to follow the intensive follow-up schedule
