Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Pathologically confirmed prostate adenocarcinoma.
- Diagnostic biopsy with 10 or more cores, each examined separately for tumor location.
- Biopsy grade group 2 or higher (Gleason score 7 or above).
- Planning to undergo radical prostatectomy (RP).
- Willing to follow usual diet with possible addition of 2 ounces of walnuts daily.
- Able to read, write, and understand English.
- Age 18 years or older
You will not qualify if you...
- Allergy to nuts.
- History of hormone therapy or antiandrogen therapy.
- Use of 5-alpha reductase inhibitors in the past 6 months.
- Prior prostate radiotherapy or prostate cryotherapy.
- Currently enrolled in modified diet or weight loss program or taking omega-3 supplements.
- Other active cancers except basal or squamous cell carcinoma.
- Significant serious health conditions affecting eligibility.
- Psychological or mental conditions affecting consent or protocol adherence.
