Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Patients 18 years of age or older
- Admitted to medical or geriatric wards for scheduled or urgent hospitalization
- Expected hospitalization of at least 48 hours
- Totally dependent, bedridden patients unable to perform their own personal hygiene
- Oriented in time and space and cognitively cooperative
- Provided written informed consent
You will not qualify if you...
- Performed perineal hygiene with antiseptic wipes or methods in the 12-24 hours before swab collection
- Underwent groin or perineal treatment requiring skin antisepsis recently (e.g., blood sampling, catheter insertion)
- Known allergies to any components of the hygiene products used
- Diagnosed with dermatological conditions
- Colonized or infected with microorganisms transmissible by contact
- Undergoing bowel cleansing preparation for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures
- Experiencing diarrheal bowel
- Hospitalized on Saturdays or Sundays due to limited staff availability for consent
- Transferred to another ward or discharged before 48 hours after enrollment
