Study of Urinary Incontinence in Women Aged 40 to 65 Across Four Hospitals in Northern Italy

This research aims to investigate urinary incontinence UI among middle-aged women, female caregivers, and female hospital staff at four hospitals in Northern Italy. It seeks to determine how common UI is, identify factors that predict UI, and describe how UI affects quality of life, social aspects, and costs for women aged 40 to 65 years. The study observes women without any intervention, using surveys to collect data. These include a survey about womens economic, social, and clinical characteristics, the Italian version of the International Consultation on Incontinence Modular Questionnaire Urinary Incontinence Short Form ICIQ UI-SF, and the Italian version of the Incontinence Impact Questionnaire-7 IIQ-7. Participants include female outpatients, caregivers, and hospital workers who meet eligibility criteria. Participants will provide information through questionnaires during the study period, which runs until December 2025. Researchers will analyze the prevalence of urinary incontinence, predictors of UI, quality of life impact, social effects, and associated costs. Data collection supports understanding the burden of UI among the target group, with no experimental treatments involved.
